Tampere

Tampere - has an area of approx. 525 km2 and has a population of approx. 225.5 thousand. residents, making it the third largest city of Finland. It is located in the Pirkanmaa region in southwestern Finland - one of the three fastest growing in the country. In 2004, Tampere was chosen by the Finns as the most attractive city. The city's mayor is Lauri Lyly.

The cooperation of Łódź and Tampere dates back to 1957, but officially Tampere has been a partner city of Łódź since 1996. ( Partner agreement in Polish >>> )

PARTNER COOPERATION

Tampere is intensively developing international cooperation, as evidenced by, among others, the number of partner cities. Tampere established its first contacts with Łódź in 1958. Cultural exchange was supported by the implementation of the Łódź Days in Tampere and the Tampere Days in Łódź. The library in Tampere has expanded its collection to include a section with Polish books. In the years 1990–1994, local government officials from Łódź underwent training in municipal finance and social welfare in Tampere.
